Curtiss-Wright’s flight recorder technology dates to 1955, when early recorders stored data on 0.002” (0.05 mm) diameter wire. We later introduced the first magnetic crash recorder in 1957, the first combined cockpit voice and flight data recorder in 1986, and were the first to obtain RTCA DO-178 approval for solid-state recorders in 1994. Today, that innovation continues - and every Curtiss-Wright flight data recorder recovered after an incident has successfully preserved critical flight data, demonstrating a 70-year legacy of proven resilience.

The current award-winning line of compact, lightweight cockpit voice and flight data recorders has been designed to meet all current regulations (including 25-hour voice/datalink recording) and is deployed globally. These flight recorders can be customized quickly and can help reduce LRU count by integrating additional functionality into the recorder. Added functionality includes image recording, encryption, and additional data for structural and monitoring programs.
